Phd Student: [+1] [score hidden] 3 hours ago S I am a PhD student that studies an organism pretty closely related (in the grand scheme of things) to M. sedula ; my bug grows at 70°C in boiling acid very happily. At lower temperatures it basically just goes dormant, and it's thought to have spread throughout the world because of a supervolcano eruption. Impact also is kind of a different concept for microbes. Impact kills us because it breaks our larger structures. Not that you can't still annihilate cells with force, but a singular event like a meteorite crash may not be as traumatic as it initially seems to something microscopic. permalink source embed save save-RES parent report give award reply hide child comments [+1] [score hidden] 3 hours ago Your insight is so beyond my understanding but I still thank you for it. Decent enough lamens terms.(I misspelt a word somewhere no doubt) permalink source embed save save-RES parent report give award reply hide child comments +1] [score hidden) 2 hours ago Layman's terms is the expression (full disclosure I did have to look up whether it was layman's or laymen's). In general a lay person is a non-expert in whatever field is being discussed. permalink source embed save save-RES parent report give award reply hide child comments [+1] [score hidden] 2 hours ago Wow I always thought the phrase was "lamest term" you saved me from a bone apple tea moment in the future, thank you. permalink source embed save save-RES parent report give award reply hide child comments Saved... but not soon enough.
