I just read the plot of this and somehow it gets worse???
the dwarfs are princes under a curse. In order to break the spell, they need a pair of magic red shoes. But currently the red shoes are owned by Snow White, who, get this, has ā€œlet herself goā€ but when she wears the shoes, they show how beautiful she is on the insideā€”aka thin.
So basically in order for the princes to break the curse, they have to doom Snow White to a life of fatness.why do they hate us so much.

That crow is more prepared than some of my students.

Youā€™ve all just like, completely skipped over the possibility that this crow has seen people using pens in this room, found one, and is trying to return it. Thereā€™s been videos of crows picking up sweet wrappers and stuff and placing them in bins after seeing humans put their litter in bins. I really do believe that this crow is trying to return the pen and that is ADORABLE AS HELL.Ā 

THEY ARE SO SMART I LOVE THEM

Crows are thought to be self aware by some scientists. Its perfectly possible the crow wants to return the pen to humans. Knowing it belongs to humans.

Another cool crow deal: Once, when trying to assess if crows could reason and use tools, scientists had two crows who didnā€™t know each other each take a wire from a table (one was hooked, one was straight) and try to grab meat from a bottle with it. The crows could see each other, though they had separate bottles. Only the straight wire worked for this, so they hypothesized that if crows could reason, the second trial would have the two crows fighting over the straight wire. The second trial started and, to the surprise of the scientists, the two crows both went for the bent wire, one held it down and the other unbent it. They both got meat out of their bottles. They came to a peaceful solution without verbal communication. Crows are probably smarter than we are.

1. Crows understand the concept of gifts.
Thereā€™s a little girl who started feeding the murder by her house and they started bringing her trinkets (cool pebbles, coins, shiny things, bleached animal bones, etc) as a thank you.Ā 
2. Crows remember who has been kind to them and tell other crows about the nice humans.
There are various examples of people who have helped crows and the crows not only come back to say hi, but also bring friends who need help over for the nice human to help.
3. Crows are the only other animal known to make tools in order to make another tool.
4. Crows have been proven to have a sense of self
If you mark them with a coloured dot that they can see and then show them their reflection in a mirror they soon realize that the reflection is them and not another crow.
5. Crows have regional dialects and accents.
They are also able to copy each otherā€™s dialects and accents to fit in if they move to an area where the accent is different.
6. Crows regularly visit their parents after leaving the nest.
They also regularly live with their parents after reaching adulthood to help with raising their younger siblings for up to five years before moving out.

The Truth: A lot of trans people do not possess obvious signs of their transhood as children. Lots of people discover themselves later in life. Your age does not dictate your transhood.Ā

What actually would cause depression is the constant harassment and harm from bigots, often times from the same people who told you hrt will make you depressed. Claim: You donā€™t need hrt. There are pills on the market made from natural means that will give you the same result without a prescription.
The Truth: This is not only false, but itā€™s a money making scheme meant to exploit your lack of easy access to hrt. These pills will not work, they will actually have the opposite effect, and they cost the same as obtaining hrt without a prescription on average.
Claim: You absolutely must have a prescription for hrt. Itā€™s illegal to get it without and youā€™ll die if you donā€™t have proper understanding.
The Truth: Morality isnā€™t dictated by legality. And, though some dangers exist with self medicating with no knowledge, as someone that did self medicated hrt itā€™s not impossible for you to get educated. Testosterone poses more legal risks and you need to be sure what youā€™re getting is the real deal with T, but the need to do things this way is a sign the system is broken - not that thereā€™s something wrong with the people doing it.

Claim: You can get hrt through Planned Parenthood.
The Truth: Accurate! Planned Parenthood does offer hrt on an informed consent basis in some places. This is not true to everywhere so maybe call them or check their own web site about it before just dropping in. Smallangryandtired did an excellent write up on how to do the process here.Ā 
However, as I said, they do not offer it in all locations. The main path a lot of people take is going to a therapist for a session or two and getting a letter from said therapist approving you for hrt and taking that to a doctor (who in turn usually recommends you to a specialist).
Claim: After a certain age, thereā€™s no point to do hrt. It wonā€™t have the same effect.
The Truth: That is a lie. Hrt will work no matter your age.
Claim: You can be too young for hrt and puberty blockers are dangerous.
The Truth: That is also a lie. Lots of people have known theyā€™re trans since they were kids and refusing them treatment is child abuse. If a doctor deems a kid too young for hrt, the alternative is puberty blockers because they are not harmful to the child at all. Despite what anti-lgbt groups want you to believe, there is no danger to puberty blockers.
Claim: There are only two genders. / Nonbinary people donā€™t exist. / Biological sex dictates gender.
The Truth: The biological sex you know is only trulyĀ representative of gender stereotypes. The truth is that, biologically speaking, there are more than two sexes and the only true way to identify such is throughĀ karyotypes. Third genders and nonbinary genders have existed through out history, it is not new. The greatest minds in science have time and time again repeated this information, that sex isnā€™t a binary, that nonbinary people exist, that trans women are really women, trans men are men, and that nonbinary people are nonbinary. Even Bill Nye has said this.
Claim: Things likeĀ ā€œstargenderā€ orĀ ā€œnoungenderā€ are ruining the representation of the trans community. /Ā ā€œNoungenderā€ is just children trying to get attention and are not actually trans. / People using neopronouns or nounself pronouns are not really trans.
The Truth: This in inaccurate and often times either a bullying tactic towards those who are different, or transphobic people using such to isolate a group of trans people. Some people do not fit into the binary or gender nor feel like theyā€™re in any defined nonbinary genders. So theyā€™ll define themselves with words and terms they enjoy. Itā€™s no different from you feeling more comfort from being calledĀ ā€œheā€ versusĀ ā€œshe.ā€Ā 
And, in the off chance it is someone just seeking attention. It doesnā€™t matter. Let them have their fun. Theyā€™re not ruining anything calling themselves spacegender on tumblr dot com.

The Truth: Iā€™m sorry to say that trans people are under the stress of discrimination from all angles, and on top of other stresses or discriminations one may experience, it leads us into suicidal ideation. Claim: You absolutely must have a prescription for hrt. Itā€™s illegal to get it without and youā€™ll die if you donā€™t have proper understanding.
The Truth: Morality isnā€™t dictated by legality. And, though some dangers exist with self medicating with no knowledge, as someone that did self medicated hrt itā€™s not impossible for you to get educated. Testosterone poses more legal risks and you need to be sure what youā€™re getting is the real deal with T, but the need to do things this way is a sign the system is broken - not that thereā€™s something wrong with the people doing it.

Claim: You can get hrt through Planned Parenthood.
The Truth: Accurate! Planned Parenthood does offer hrt on an informed consent basis in some places. This is not true to everywhere so maybe call them or check their own web site about it before just dropping in. Smallangryandtired did an excellent write up on how to do the process here.Ā 
However, as I said, they do not offer it in all locations. The main path a lot of people take is going to a therapist for a session or two and getting a letter from said therapist approving you for hrt and taking that to a doctor (who in turn usually recommends you to a specialist).
Claim: After a certain age, thereā€™s no point to do hrt. It wonā€™t have the same effect.
The Truth: That is a lie. Hrt will work no matter your age.
Claim: You can be too young for hrt and puberty blockers are dangerous.
The Truth: That is also a lie. Lots of people have known theyā€™re trans since they were kids and refusing them treatment is child abuse. If a doctor deems a kid too young for hrt, the alternative is puberty blockers because they are not harmful to the child at all. Despite what anti-lgbt groups want you to believe, there is no danger to puberty blockers.
Claim: There are only two genders. / Nonbinary people donā€™t exist. / Biological sex dictates gender.
The Truth: The biological sex you know is only trulyĀ representative of gender stereotypes. The truth is that, biologically speaking, there are more than two sexes and the only true way to identify such is throughĀ karyotypes. Third genders and nonbinary genders have existed through out history, it is not new. The greatest minds in science have time and time again repeated this information, that sex isnā€™t a binary, that nonbinary people exist, that trans women are really women, trans men are men, and that nonbinary people are nonbinary. Even Bill Nye has said this.
Claim: Things likeĀ ā€œstargenderā€ orĀ ā€œnoungenderā€ are ruining the representation of the trans community. /Ā ā€œNoungenderā€ is just children trying to get attention and are not actually trans. / People using neopronouns or nounself pronouns are not really trans.
The Truth: This in inaccurate and often times either a bullying tactic towards those who are different, or transphobic people using such to isolate a group of trans people. Some people do not fit into the binary or gender nor feel like theyā€™re in any defined nonbinary genders. So theyā€™ll define themselves with words and terms they enjoy. Itā€™s no different from you feeling more comfort from being calledĀ ā€œheā€ versusĀ ā€œshe.ā€Ā 
And, in the off chance it is someone just seeking attention. It doesnā€™t matter. Let them have their fun. Theyā€™re not ruining anything calling themselves spacegender on tumblr dot com.
Claim: There are people faking being trans to fit into a crowd. / The entire concept ofĀ ā€œtranstrenders.ā€
The Truth: Not true. This is just age old blatantĀ ā€œyouā€™re fakingā€ transphobia.Ā 
Claim: Trans people on hrt or post-op can not experience sexual enjoyment.
The Truth: Both will change your bodyā€™s entire response to sex. Your enjoyment doesnā€™t disappear, the entire process just changes to something different. This inaccuracy is spread by transphobes on average and isnā€™t remotely true.
Claim: Trans people have a high rate of suicide.
The Truth: Iā€™m sorry to say that trans people are under the stress of discrimination from all angles, and on top of other stresses or discriminations one may experience, it leads us into suicidal ideation. But, thatā€™s why we need to stick together and help each other out. If youā€™re trans and considering suicide, consider the following:

my favourite part of the Evolutionary Biology courses I took at the University of Toronto was learning that several bird species have 3+ sexes? the ruff bird is a great example - each male variant has a different (and successful!) reproductive strategy, and a different chromosomal sequence.
unlike the ruff bird, human sex falls into a bimodal distribution - this means there are two strong peaks (ā€typicalā€ male and female morphs),Ā with a whole lot in between.
evolution is nice way of sayingĀ ā€œstatistics played out longterm among living organismsā€, and evolutionarily successful traitsā€¦.arenā€™t something to hold up asĀ naturalĀ orĀ moral, or representative of anĀ advanced state.Ā itā€™s literally just fuck tactics that make your group size increase.
(though fucking isnā€™tĀ always the best route, as asexual reproduction is massively advantageous as a short-term strategy, and certain species dominate the landscape by switching between sexual/asexual depending on environmental conditions)
besides all that, the strength of humankind has always been our ability to work together communally, and thatā€™s straight science.Ā so even if you went down the extremely problematic pathĀ of valuingĀ fellow humans based on their potentialĀ evolutionaryĀ contributionĀ (coughs, eugenics, coughs), there would still be zero scientific basis behind discriminating against trans, non-binary and intersex people.Ā 
tl;dr hereā€™s a challenge to all the bigots out there: please stop usingĀ ā€œscienceā€ as a defence when the actual science is (overwhelmingly) against you.

I find White-throated sparrows fascinating. They have two color morphs, the bright one:
And the drab one:
The two morphs have very different behavior. The bright ones are more aggressive, setting up territories and defending them, being more aggressive about defending against predators. They sing more often.
The dull ones are quieter and less aggressive. They are more attentive to the nest, and better at feeding nestlings.
The morphs tend to make a good pairing for raising children because they specialize in different roles. The dull-colored birds, being more camouflaged, are safer when sitting on the nest, and are better able to hide. The bright-colored birds, being more visible, are better able to intimidate predators and rivals.
Interestingly though, both color morphs occur in both female and male birds. And birds tend to pair up with both opposite sex and opposite color morph birds. The dimorphism and different roles that, in most birds, are strongly associated with biological sex, in this species has evolved to be abstracted and separated from biological sex.
Some people have described this system as the birds havingĀ ā€œfour sexesā€.

Listen in the past the poor have had to improvise cheap food theĀ richĀ never wanted as a means to survive. And over the many years of innovation made the food taste good until eventually the richĀ where like: ā€œOh hay you actuallyĀ likeĀ that garbage? Why on earth would you like it?ā€ Then they try it, love it, start buyingĀ it, and then drive the price up so much it becomes a luxuryĀ good.
They do this and its devastating, the food typically never becomesĀ affordable again. It donā€™t matter how cheap the foo dis to produce, it doesnā€™t matter if there is almost no meat on the bone or its super difficult to eat and messy. Once the poor discover how to make some bit of cheap food taste good, the rich take it away via driving the price of it up.
THEY DID THIS TO RIBS.
Ribs were garage meat.Ā Just look at them, there is hardly any meat on the bone, you have to eat them by hand usually, and they are messy. They where an undesirable cheap sourceĀ of junk meat. But the poor being the poor made them taste good. (Because they donā€™t have much to choose from.) The rich discovered the meals the poor made with them and decided they liked ribs too. People discovered they could sell a few ribs to rich people and make way more money then selling lots of ribs to poor people and the price was driven up.

They did the same to brisket.Ā  You used to be able to get brisket for less than a dollar a pound, which meant you could get a twenty pound brisket fairly cheaply.Ā  And then you smoked it, sliced it, and had meat for weeks if not a full month.Ā  And it was tasty.Ā  I grew up eating brisket at least once a month because my family could afford it.
It was a cheap meat because no rich person looks at the dangly part of the neck of a cow and goesĀ ā€˜ooh, that looks tasty!ā€™.
But then Food Network started showcasing things like barbecued brisket.Ā  Rich people started showing up at places that werenā€™t just Rib Crib to get their barbeque.Ā  And the price of brisket went up.Ā  A lot.
I regularly see it for over five dollars a pound in stores now.Ā  And while yeah, that might not seem like a lot when youā€™re talking only a pound or two of meat, brisket is normally sold in ten to twenty pound sizes.Ā  Itā€™s become completely unaffordable to the people that made it delicious.
Sushi used to be really cheap, too, until it becameĀ ā€˜trendyā€™.Ā  Guess why youā€™re now paying twelve dollars for your order of California rolls?Ā  Because rich people discovered something that poor people had been eating for ages.
Noticed the prices of fajita meat, chicken thighs, or ham hocks has gone up recently?Ā  You guessed it.Ā  Rich people are taking our food and now weā€™re scrambling to afford the things that we grew up eating.

Lobster is a perfect example of this phenomenon.Ā For hundreds of years, lobster was regarded as a sort of insect larvae from the depth of the sea. It had zero appeal as aĀ ā€œluxury foodā€ until people living in NY and Boston developed a taste for it. Before the 19th century, it was considered a ā€œpoverty foodā€ or used as fertilizer and bait - some household servants specified in employment agreements that they would not eat lobster more than twice a week.It was also commonly served at prisons, which tells you something about prison food.
Only by cleverly marketing lobster as an indulgence for the privileged made it cost so much. It became a vehicle for enormous profit spawning a multi-billion dollar global industry in the process. This mythical affection for lobster flesh - not its practical value in terms of taste, nutrition, or any other reasonable consideration - drives its value.
