But then for transgender aren't they now their new gender and not some separate group. I guess the trans part is just for people to know that they were labelled as something once and now want to be known as something else showing that they changed. But is it important that they're labelled as trans? Why not simply what they wanted to become? Ok I get this probably is definitely not the right place to have these kinds of discussions since I actually asked a legit question and just got downvoted (Ilol) for no reason but at least thanks for the great response though Vote Dem_Cthulhu ,鈥 2m People can be a little quick sometimes to over react without thinking things through on the internet, and who knows it very well could have been some anti trans people who downvoted you as well, but no worries, it's my pleasure to help explain these things to people, especially those who seem receptive to it and are likely allies that don't know it yet. And as far as you're question about trans people is concerned: You're quite right that they are the gender that they identify with, and ideally, at least as far as I'm concerned, they wouldn't need to identify as a trans man or a trans woman for the most part. However the purpose of the LGBT movement is to give rights to people who belong to these groups, and people who have or are transitioning from one gender to another, that is to say trans people, are no exception to that. Sadly trans people are quite poorly treated and face many issues as far as society and law is concerned. So yes you're right in saying that the reason why they are labeled as trans is to say that they were one gender and now they're a different gender, but to understand why that is important, you should know that as people who have transitioned, they face many hardships, which they can only overcome by organising and fighting for them. 1 1 + Add a comment Had this genuinely nice interaction with someone where I could help them understand some things

The LGBTQ+ movement isn't purely about sexuality,
while yes a lot of the group's that are represented
under that banner simply refer to sexuality and

 at the parents discretion.
I hope I've helped explain a little something about
the movement and if you want to, I'd recommend
reading/learning up about it, some great YouTubers
and video essayists who talk about LGBT rights and
