Holy shit this fucking super power. The avengers did Quicksilver WRONG.

The brilliant thing about this isnā€™t just the CGI, itā€™s the clever little touches of humorā€“ mussing the boyā€™s hair, saving the goldfish, drinking the soda can, the moonwalk, lining up the dart with the dartboard. I notice new details every time I see this clip. You can watch this scene with zero context and still fully enjoy it. You donā€™t need to know who he is or who heā€™s saving or why. Thereā€™s a guy who runs real fast and heā€™s saving people from an explosion, and heā€™s having a blast with it, and thatā€™s all you need to know. Itā€™s entertaining and fully comprehensible even if you know nothing about the movie. Thatā€™s damn good filmmaking.

I have absolutely ZERO interest in ever watching this movie, and I never have had any. 
But ever since this clip first made it onto tumblr, I have watched it EVERY SINGLE TIME itā€™s come around, because it is just absolutely fantastic work not only cinematographically but also to show characterization.  Heā€™s gonna save all these people, but heā€™s also gonna have a little fun.  Heā€™s a good person but a mischievous one, who probably has a lot of opinions and who doesnā€™t take things too seriously.  It had very clearly been thrown in the ocean from
 the nearby crab docks. It probably traveled a
 whopping 1/2 mile before washing up in the sand.
 He decided to wait until we got back to California to
 send the postcard, so it would seem like the bottle
 floated all the way south.
